2013 Funded Projects Crisis Center North CCN has focused on economic empowerment programming for women for the last seven years. For this grant, JWF is supporting CCN’s efforts to develop a microloan program specifically for domestic violence victims in Allegheny County. Gwen’s Girls Inner-city girls are encountering significant barriers as they attempt to enter today's workforce. JWF is funding a work readiness program for adolescent girls, ages 15 to 18, to provide them with the skills and training to find work and then place the participants in an employment or internship setting. New Voices Pittsburgh Funding for New Voices’ SistahSpeak! Youth Project, a sexual and reproductive health, community organization and mentoring program for Black girls ages 10 to 19. Part of this work will include the development of a Black Girls’ Health Agenda – a 5 to 10 year plan to achieve health and well-being for Black girls. Yeshiva Girls School The economic landscape has changed for Pittsburgh's Ultra-Orthodox women and professional opportunities that previously existed for female students have either vanished or now require a college degree. The school is seeking to bring about long-term systemic change to ensure the financial independence of its students through a STEM education and writing program. JWF's grant will enable the school to modernize its science laboratory.
