Women’s Law Project

Gwen’s Girls

The JWF provided funding for “Leadership Development,” one of the agency’s ten life domains. (The others include Education, Health and Wellness, Family Life, Life Skills, Community Service, Spirituality, Cultural Enrichment, Female Awareness and Recreation.) Founded in 2002, Gwen’s Girls empowers girls, ages 8 to 18, to have productive futures through holistic, gender-specific programs, education and experiences.

Jewish Education Institute

The JWF provided f unding for “Rosh Hodesh, It’s a Girl’s Thing”, a values-based, experiential and authentically Jewish program that strengthens the self-esteem and Jewish identify of adolescent girls in grades 6 through 12. This program had never been offered in Pittsburgh prior to the JWF funding.

Magee Womancare International and the
Wiener Na’amat Pittsburgh Center Women’s Health Center in Karmiel, Israel

Matching funds were provided to obtain medical equipment and educational materials for a collaborative program between Magee and the Women’s Health Center, which was established in 2002 to fill the gaping need for women’s health awareness in Karmiel-Misgav, Israel.

Women’s Law Project

The Women's Law Project engages in high-impact litigation, leads advocacy, education, and public policy efforts on behalf of women and their families, and provides direct services to thousands of women each year. The JWF of Greater Pittsburgh provided funding for a two-day conference designed to promote gender equity in western Pennsylvania’s public schools and to educate participants on Title IX.
